SAMLA COMMITTEES

AGENCY LIAISON	Meet with FHA & VA and report any changes or updates to the general membership.
BYLAWS/SCHOLARSHIP	Update bylaws as needed to conform with AMLA. Communicate and coordinate the scholarship program with U of A and Pima. Review scholarship applications, interview applicants with the scholarship committee and make scholarship award recommendations to the SAMLA Board. Conduct the scholarship presentations at the scholarship lunch or dinner meeting.
BROKER LIAISON	Attend Broker functions including their monthly lunch meeting and update the SAMLA Board and general membership regarding AAMB Southern Chapter.
COMMERCIAL LIAISON	Update the SAMLA Board and general membership from time to time regarding Commercial Real Estate Lending including loan programs available. Organize Commercial educational programs for presentation to the SAMLA membership.
EDUCATION/PROGRAM	Plan & schedule top quality educational seminars & classes for the SAMLA membership; scheduling of top quality educational and community leaders to give presentations at monthly lunch meetings.
AWARDS/RECOGNITION	Recognize affiliate members who have contributed above and beyond the call of duty with quarterly and annual awards.
ETHICS	Receive complaints from consumers regarding their experience with mortgage industry representatives. Present these complaint issues to the SAMLA Board and attempt to mediate the problem between the lender and borrower. The theory with this activity is that any negative consumer experience with lenders hurts all lenders.
INDUSTRY LIAISON	Meet with and present updates from other industry associations such as SAHBA and TAR or the Escrow Association in an effort to improve our relationship with those groups.
LEGISLATIVE	Present current legislative issues facing our industry to the SAMLA membership. Work closely with the AMLA and AAMB Legislative Committees in an effort to strengthen our industries effectiveness.
MEMBERSHIP	The entire SAMLA Board serves on the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee Chair will present new applications for membership at board meetings, and introduce new members and present their membership certificates at lunch meetings. The membership committee prepares renewal membership certificates.
NEWSLETTER/ PUBLIC RELATIONS	Establish a relationship with the media by providing media kits with SAMLA officers listed for contact when information is needed regarding our industry. Provide press releases to let the community know whom our elected officers are each year and to release other information as needed.
WAYS & MEANS	Coordinate with the various committees such as the membership & scholarship committees to plan and run social and fundraising activities to support SAMLA's goals including the AMLA/SAMLA Gold Tournament and SAMLA's Holiday party.
HOSPITALITY	Help our Executive Secretary with all meetings and social activities including monthly lunch meetings.
PARLIAMENTARIAN	Enforce the bylaws and the rules and procedures therein in an effort to have our board meetings and other meetings run smoothly and efficiently.
